Abstract
Landing gear could not be separated with aircraft, when the aircraft takes off, landing, parks and taxiing (moving on land), Landing gear serves to withstand the weight of aircraft when on the ground resist impact loads when the wheel touch down the runway, and when taking off. Wheel landing gear and fuselage are connected by strut bar which props the entire weight of aircraft in the ground and resist impact loads when landing. In the previous studies, the use of strut bar which is on Cessna drone model uses steel (fe) material that is ponderable and inefficient for pruning the weight and creates a new strut bar type using composite with fiber glass material blend of woven roving and unidirectional with same size, expected for decreasing extra weight with nearly the same strength as the existing steel sturt bar. Manufacturing process composite strurt bar landing gear with fiber glass material blend of woven roving and unidirectional uses hand lay up method that is by smearing layered glass fiber glued by lycal resin for a predetermined thickness. Strut bar landing gear composite manufacturing result, structural strength could be found by analyzing the ultimate tensile strength and impact strength based on the surface area of the material. The surface area is 0,5cm X 1,5cm = 0,75 cm2 or as big as 0,000075 m2. The strength of the ultimate tensile structure can be known by multiplying the surface area and ultimate tensile, 0.000075 m2 X 93.079.223 N/m2 = 6,980.94 N or converted into kilogram force of 711.86 kgf. While the strength of impact structure is known with impact energy (J) divided by surface area, 15.7 J: 0.000075 m2 = 209.333,333 J/m2.
