Abstract

Air heater is an air heater where heat is taken from the exhaust gas from combustion before entering the chimney (stack). By utilizing this exhaust gas, it can save fuel costs so that it can increase combustion efficiency. The air heater used in the Suralaya PLTU is the Ljungsrom type. This type is the most widely used in the world because of its performance and durability. Periodic repairs and maintenance are easy to do on this type of air heater because of its simple design. The damage that occurs to the boiler air heater is corrosion due to sulfur. To clean the heater element, a washing system is sufficient with water because this is very effective or by dipping it in an alkaline solution such as a solution of sodium carbonate (Na2C02). After that, routine maintenance is sufficient, for example, periodically discharging the conditioned lubrication system, maintaining the lubricant temperature within the permitted limits and periodically testing oil samples to determine the viscosity and cleanliness of the oil.
