Abstract

Landing process or landing on a UAV is complex because it requires a lot of control from an aircraft in addition to dynamic obstacles such as sudden wind changes, load weight, and high and speed in each direction. During aircraft landing many methods are used to slow down the aircraft. One of them is using a parachute to slow down or recover the aircraft when landing. Therefore a parachute test is performed by calculating the descent velocity or speed when it hits the ground mathematically, knowing the results of the Skywalker UAV parachute test at landing and determining the location of the CG for parachute placement when used on Skywalker X8 UAV aircraft. The method used in this thesis is to use analytical methods by calculating descent velocity or speed when hitting the ground with altitude when releasing a parachute of 300 ft or 91,44 m, and the mass of the aircraft of 3,3 kg. Results of Calculation of the fall speed of Skywalker X8 UAV aircraft when landing with the engine off state using a parachute that is equal to 4,28 m/s, the test results of the Skywalker UAV aircraft parachute at the time of landing cannot be realized in accordance with the calculated ground speed, because at the time of parachute On the parachute, the parachute cannot expand due to the tightening of the rope on the propeller, and the location of the CG parachute placement so that the plane can land with a balance of 20,66 cm from the LEMAC
