Abstract

In recent years, many UAVs have been developed from the large to the small as well as the categories of fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft. UAV technology has been widely applied for environmental and security monitoring, meteorological surveillance, weather research, agriculture, exploration and exploitation of mineral materials even for military purposes. Whereas for the development of goods sender or cargo UAVs, we rarely find it especially in Indonesia. The design of cargo UAV aircraft became a new hope in the development of UAV aircraft. This study aims to produce the design, geometry, aerodynamic characteristics of CARGO X UAV. In this study discusses the design of CARGO X UAVs for goods delivery and monitoring missions, the design is more emphasized on conceptual design, the method used is analytical methods from Raymer and Roskam namely the design starts with determining the weight, wing geometry, body (fuselage), and tail. The next stage is to create unmanned aircraft in 3 dimensions with CATIA V5R20, and the final stage is analyzing the aerodynamics of aircraft designed with computational fluid dynamic (CFD) - based software with ANSYS Workbench 15.0. The results of drone design show that the aircraft has a rectangular wing shape with high wing position, conventional tail, 2 electric motors mounted on the wing. The technical data of the design results are as follows: take-off weight 5.5 Kg, wing area 0.427 m2, plane length 1.1 m, wing aspect ratio 9.378, when the lift speed coefficient of lift (Cl) is 0.5312 and maximum coefficient lift (CLmax) of the aircraft is 1,413 when the angle of attack is 13o .
