Abstract
As a volcano that includes having a fairly high activity, Mount Merapi attracted more government attention in the supervision and monitoring. This is due to the potential eruption of the mountain is still very large. Given the population living in the vicinity even up to Mount Merapi, this natural disaster needs to be given serious attention. One of the important information needed in monitoring is the visual information of the crater state of Mount Merapi, and one method to retrieve that information is by sending unmanned aircraft. Therefore this scientific paper discusses the design of unmanned aircraft that have a special mission for monitoring Mount Merapi. The writing of this scientific paper is devoted to the design of unmanned flying wing aircraft with the name S774-M. Will be launched from Yogyakarta city, this aircraft has a specific flying performance to perform the flying mission. In estimating the state and flying performance of the design plane, the 3-dimensional model has been tested for its aerodynamic characteristics using ANSYS 15.0 software, its stability with XFLR5 V6.09 software, and its range and endurance with Electric UAV Flight Time Calculator. The result of the design is found that the Flying Wing S774-M UAV aircraft has a 2 m of wing span and 2.529kg of weights and need to trimed at 1˚ angle of attack. Fly in altitude of 3000 meter above the seal with cruising speed of 70 km / h. It has a lift coefficient value of 0.2196 and a drag coefficient of 0.0145, also has a negative Cmα curve which indicates that the aircraft is statically stable.
