Abstract

Nose Wheel Tire is one part of the landing gear that supports the plane's landing and take-off processes. In addition, Nose wheel tire also supports aircraft operations while on the ground such as taxing and parking. Therefore, Nose Wheel Tire always interacts directly with the runway and is an aircraft component that always experiences friction, especially when the plane lands (landing). Given its important function in aircraft operations, this component is very risky of being damaged. Nose Wheel Tire that is not normal will affect the balance of the aircraft so that it can endanger the aircraft even though only one of the aircraft wheels has an indication of failure. Reliability is the probability that a component or system will work in accordance with its function when it is operated for a certain period of time. The reliability of a component or tool as an opportunity that the component will function properly for at least up to a certain period of time under certain experimental conditions. In the lognormal distribution there is a scale parameter (μ) and a shape parameter (σ). The lognormal distribution is the probability distribution of a random variable / variable whose logarithms are normally distributed and is generally used to model the age of a component that has a failure at a certain point. The lognormal distribution has various forms, usually data that can be approximated by the Weibull distribution can also be approximated by the Lognormal distribution. The results of the Nose Wheel Tire analysis using the lognormal distribution method show that the reliability value of the Nose Wheel Tire for ATR 72-500 is 0.4387 at 455 flight hours. The value of 455 is the result of the calculation of the main time to failure and the effective maintenance interval for the ATR 72-500 Nose Wheel Tire is before 455 hours with the recommendation for maintenance of the ATR 72-500 Nose Wheel Tire aircraft is periodic maintenance
