Abstract

Recently, aviation technology develops rapidly and is continuously researched to facilitate human activities effectively and efficiently. The flying robot known as UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) is basically used to replace the actual aircraft’s role. This UAV can also be used to reduce the number of deaths on the pilot and the operational costs. The UAV has various functions based on the mission in user’s setting. The design of UAV aircraft is not only for military field. Nowadays, it is widely used in various missions, including the design of TM15 Flying Wing aircraft intended for Merapi mount surveillance missions. The aircraft has maximum take off weight of 3 kg and wing span 2 m. This UAV flies at approximately 3000 meter above sea level. Calculations were used to identify the thrust, power, and determine the motor and propeller. Based on the calculations TM15 Flying Wing used Turnig Y Aerodeive SK3 motor and with 14x7 propeller.
