Abstract

The electricity sector is one of the leading sector in supporting economy and progress in the national development. Supported by vast ocean, Indonesia has the opportunity to develop sea water as the largest alternative energy source. The used method for this research study was the voltaic cell method. Besides the electrolyte solutions, voltaic cells consist of two part; electrode and electrolyte. The voltaic cells were one of the electrochemical cells in which the chemical energy from spontaneous redox reactions converted into electrical energy. The principle of voltaic cells was producing electric current by transferring electrons from the oxidation reaction in the anode to the reduction reaction in the cathode. The power generated by battery electrolyte seawater with variation of electrode copper (Cu), magnesium (Mg) and aluminum (Al). the power of Mg-Cu electrode was 0.0512775 Watt, Al-Cu electrode was 0.0030264 Watt and the electrode Mg-Al was 0.0007182 Watt. In conclusion, the hignest electrode variation was at MgCu as 0.0512775 Watt and the lowest was at Mg-Al as 0.0007182 Watt
