Abstract

Utilization of networks in people's lives is now increasingly widespread. This is inseparable from various facilities for communication and sharing resources. Networking implementation requires various equipment such as routers and switches and an understanding of various techniques, such as addressing using IP addresses and also techniques for routing. The bigger a network, the network management will be complex and complicated so that proper network management is needed to determine the fastest and closest path to send messages to get to the desired destination, namely by using the Routing Protocol. This research uses dynamic RIP and OSPF routing. The goal is to determine the performance of RIP and OSPF routing using QOS parameters and compare the performance of the two routing in the management of a network. Routing Information Protocol (RIP) is a dynamic routing protocol used in LAN (Local Area Network) and WAN (Wide Area Network) where RIP uses the Distance Vector Routing algorithm. While OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) is a routing protocol developed by IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force). OSPF is a Link State (LS) routing protocol. he research will compare the QOS values of the two routing methods and analyze the travel time needed to send a number of data packets using the Quality of Service (QOS) standard. In the RIP and OSPF Loss routing category the value is 0% (all packets are sent). In the second Delay category, Routing has a value of less than 150 ms, which is between 7.66 ms to 11.33 ms (very good), while in the OSPF routing throughput category the min and max values are higher than the RIP routing if the sum of the min values of RIP 254.48 and min values on OSPF 1164.59 and for RIP max values 773.829 while OSPF 767.998 Kbps and in the Jitter routing category RIP and OSPF both have values of less than 1ms which is between 0.05ms to 0.575ms in this category second routing is said to be good according to table 2.5 of the jitter category.
