Abstract

Electrical energy is one of the most important needs for humans used on a small, medium, and large scale, as well as for industrial purposes. The pitch angle is one of the factors that influences windmills because it is useful for capturing the speed of the wind, which will then move the windmill and produce power. Airport parking lots require adequate lighting for the safety and comfort of parking users. Windmills can help reduce electrical energy consumption by serving as an alternative lighting source. The goal of this research is to design, manufacture, and assemble the Naca 0015 propeller windmill blade, as well as to investigate the power coefficient (Cp) with tip speed ratio and the best work results from pitch angle variations. The blade has a Naca 0015 airfoil with a chord length of 0.15 m and a blade diameter of 0.9m. The pitch angle variation employed is 5°, 10°, and 15°. The data were collected using a blower fan with a wind speed of 7 m/s. The best work results were obtained at the pitch angle of 15° with the wind speed of 7m/s, obtaining a power coefficient of 17.69% and the tip speed ratio of 3.07. Meanwhile, the trendline approach generated the lowest results at the pitch angle of 5°, the power coefficient of 11%, and the tip speed ratio (TSR) of 3.58.
