Abstract

UAV or unmanned aerial vehicles have been used in a variety of applications such as area mapping, coastal patrols, and natural disaster monitoring. The Sky- Lab aircraft faces obstacles in the ability to take off and land in narrow places. The purpose of this research is to analyze the wing structure of the Sky-Lab VTOL UAV, determine the location of the VTOL arm safety distance, and evaluate the safety of the structure based on failure criteria and margin of safety. The research methods used include literature study, structural modeling using CATIA V5R20 software, and structural strength analysis using CFD software. The results show that the safe distance of the VTOL arm is 183.5 mm from the wing root. The maximum stress and displacement analysis shows that the Sky-Lab wing structure is safe with stress and deformation values that are still within the allowable limits. Failure criteria and margin of safety analysis also show that the Sky-Lab wing structure is safe.
