Abstract

Wings are one of the main structures in an airplane that function to generate lift. The wings on an unmanned aircraft (PUNA) must have a strong structure and be able to withstand the loads that occur on the wings, one of which is bending loads. To find out the maximum bending load that the wing can with stand, that is by doing a bending test. Bending test is a process of testing a material by applying a load, resulting in pressure on the test object to obtain results in the form of data on bending strength and bending load on a test object material. This research was conducted to determine the maximum load that the wing can withstand and the large deflection that occurs when it is given a load. The loading is a distributed loading given to each rib using the bending test method and loading calculations using the schrenk method with balsa wood and carbon fiber materials. Testing is carried out to reach the limits but after the limit is reached the test is continued to the final limit until the wing is broken. The test results show that the wing structure using carbon fiber and balsawood is said to be safe because it can withstand a maximum load of 34,068 kg with a maximum deflection of 2.5 cm. The damage that occurred was in several parts, namely the wing joiner, the connection between the wing and the fuselage as well as the chord root.
