Abstract

Structure repair is one of the aircraft maintenance activities, where this maintenance specifically handles the structure of an aircraft that is damaged, so that action or treatment is needed for the damage in accordance with the established procedures. The purpose of writing this thesis is to model, calculate the maximum stress, and calculate the Margin of Safety value of the horizontal stabilizer leading edge skin without damage, with damage and repair. Modeling and analysis were carried out using CATIA V5R21 software. The analysis method used is the static analysis method by utilizing the facilities in CATIA software, namely generative structural analysis. In this study, the loading used was the steady turn maneuver load. In this loading there are three variations of banking angles, namely 15 °, 30 ° and 45 °. From the analysis using CATIA V5R21 software, it was obtained that the repair structure of the leading edge horizontal stabilizer skin of the Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft can be modeled with CATIA V5R21 on a scale of 1:1 from the part design stage to assembly design. The maximum stress value experienced by the leading edge horizontal stabilizer skin is 242 MPa at a banking angle variation of 45°. The highest value for Margin of Safety is 2,080 at a banking angle variation of 15°. While the lowest Margin of Safety value is at a banking angle variation of 45° of 0.426.
