Abstract

The aviation world is often colored by problems influenced by human error, including errors in handling passenger baggage. One of them occurs in the handling of passenger baggage of Sriwijaya Air which operates at Adisutjpto International Airport in Yogyakarta. The types of baggage defects that are often found on Sriwijaya Air are broken suitcase handles, broken suitcase wheels, torn luggage, delayed luggage and lost luggage. The efforts that can be made are to find out the cause of the defect, and to provide suggestions for improvement to Sriwijaya Air at Adisutjpito International Airport in Yogyakarta. The method used to solve this problem is to use the Six Sigma method, because this method functions to control and improve quality by analyzing (DMAIC), namely Define using the CTQ (Critical To Quality) stages, Measure calculate DPO, DPMO and P control maps and also analyze with the Pareto diagram. At the Analyze stage using Fishbone to analyze the cause and effect of defects in Sriwijaya Air passenger baggage, at the Improvement stage assisted by the FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analyze) tool to calculate the highest RPN (Risk Priority Number) value and to find out what potential errors and failures occur in handling Sriwijaya Air passenger baggage and finally with the Control stage which provides suggestions for improvement to the Sriwijaya Air airline company. From the results of the calculations and analysis there are 5 types of passenger baggage defects, namely, broken luggage wheels, damaged luggage handles, torn luggage, delayed luggage and lost luggage. And among the luggage defects, the highest RPN value was found to be delayed luggage defects with a value of 288 and the lowest RPN value was lost luggage defects with a total of 42. And with the calculation results, the Sigma level value can be known, namely 3.237, from the results of the sigma, there needs to be improvement in order to reach the maximum Sigma level, namely 6 sigma
