Abstract

Complaints of pain in body parts are often felt by operators due to unnatural work postures, incorrect work postures are often caused by the location of facilities that are not in accordance with the operator's anthropometry so that it can affect the comfort and performance of the operator. CV. Dua Putri Tasikmalaya is a Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) engaged in the embroidery convection business, the production produced includes making kebaya lace, mukena and koko shirts. Operators at CV. Dua Putri do work with a less ergonomic body position including the work elements of installing the upper thread, threading the needle, installing the lower thread and the process of dividing the thread. This position is risky because the work is done continuously and for a long period of time, so it can cause fatigue for the operator and can even cause muscle injuries (musculoskeletal disorders). This study aims to determine the risk value of the operator's work posture based on the RULA value and provide suggestions for improvements to the operator to reduce fatigue and the risk of musculoskeletal disorders. The procedure in developing the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) method includes three stages. The first stage is the development of a method to record work postures, the second stage is the development of a scoring system, and the third is the development of a scale of action levels that provide guidance on the level of risk and the need for action to conduct a more detailed further assessment. In the actual work posture, the final value for work element 1 threading the upper thread is 5, work element 2 threading the needle gets a value of 5, work element 3 threading the lower thread gets a value of 7 and work element 4 threading process gets a value of 5. Assistive devices in the form of additional chairs and stairs are used to reduce the occurrence of fatigue and musculoskeletal disorders with the final value obtained for work element 1 being 3, work element 2 getting a value of 3, work element 3 getting a value of 3 and work element 4 getting a value of 2.
