Abstract

Many aircraft engine manufacturing industries from various countries are competing to design or produce gas turbine engines with turbofan types, including IAE International Aero Engines in collaboration with several owners, Pratt & Whitney, Pratt & Whitney Aero Engines International, MTU Aero Engine, Japanese Aero Engine Corporation that uses V2500-A1 for Airbus A320-231 aircraft. Related to the more efficient use of engines, fuel consumption has a very important role, where efficiency in fuel use is one measure in determining the reliability of an engine’s performance. This study was conducted to determine how the influence of Bypass Ratio BPR and Fan Pressure Ratio FPR against Specific Fuel Consumption SFC on the V2500-A1 engine in run-up condition. The method used in this study was a parametric cycle analysis of real enginemethod using Excel and Mathcad software assistance. Then was analyzed the SFC which hasbeen influenced by variations in the value of the bypass ratio and fan pressure ratio to determine the performance produced from the V2500-A1 engine. SFC value is known to decrease with increasing variation in values of both parameters, BPR and FPR, so that if the values of both parameters are getting bigger, then fuel consumption when the aircraft operates will be less in reaching the temperature on Turbine Inlet Temperature Tt4. Deviation value has also been obtained with the results of Excels calculation is 41,5% and Mathcads calculation is 41,5%, it is because there are restrictions on the problems in essay writing, both in the form of limits on gamma values when compression and expansion as well as limited capabilities of Excel and Mathcad software in engine thermodynamics calculation operations.
