Abstract

The cooling fan is an important system in aircraft. The role of the cooling fan is for the air used for the cooling process in the cockpit so that the pilot feels comfortable. In its operation during the period from October 2012 to January 2020, the cooling fan on the KT-1B WOONG BEE aircraft experienced many malfunctions. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research to find and analyze the causes of the malfunction of the cooling fan. To solve this problem, a qualitative analysis was conducted using the Fault Tree Analysis FTA method. The Fault Tree Analysis method was used to find the root cause of the cooling fan failure. Next, provide a maintenance solution for the failure of the cooling fan. Based on the results of the analysis using the Fault Tree Analysis FTA method with Cooling fan Failure as the top event, 11 intermediate events using the OR logic gate and 10 basic events that caused the cooling fan to fail. So the maintenance solution can be done, namely by carry out inspections or visual checks and continue with maintenance on the rotor, flapper valve and terminal block connectors before and after the aircraft performs flight operations.
