Abstract

The use of motorized vehicles certainly produces carbon monoxide (CO) gas, which is produced from the rest of the engine combustion. This gas can pollute the air and endanger health. Carbon monoxide is a gas that is colorless, odorless, tasteless and consists of one carbon atom covalently linked to one oxygen atom (O2). In this study, we will discuss the design of monitoring carbon monoxide gas in the car cabin using the MQ-7 sensor using the Arduino Pro Micro microcontroller. In this study using the experiment method by making a prototype which is designed a tool that can measure levels of carbon monoxide gas using the MQ-7 sensor and Arduino Pro Micro. The results of these sizes are viewed through a 16x2 LCD. The stages of design testing in this study are functional testing to find out the components used have met the function value, calibration testing to determine the level of accuracy and design errors of existing standard measuring instruments, performance testing to determine the ability of the design which consists of measuring distance capabilities. of the sensors used, the time difference between the displayed values and those measured and the last is implementation testing where the design is tested against actual conditions. The results of functional testing show that the design is able to carry out the functions of each component. The design consists of an Arduino Pro Micro as a microcontroller, an MQ-7 sensor as a carbon monoxide gas meter, a 16x2 LCD as a display media, LEDs and a buzzer as a warning indicator. The design has an accuracy of 96.7% and an error of 3.3% with a maximum measuring distance of 55 cm. This is influenced by the quality of the sensor used, the comparison tool used and the accuracy of the value reading
