Abstract

Windshield is part of the cockpit windows of the Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft which functions to provide a direct view to the pilot to see the surrounding conditions. Windshield is located on the flightdeck compartment windows. There are 6 windshields on cockpi windows, namely on two forward windows, two on sliding windows, and two on fixed side windows. Each windshield on the windows has several components such as bus bars. The busbar is two electrical conductors placed on opposite edges of the window and is used to transmit electric current from the power wires to the conductive heating film. In this study, the fishbone diagram method is used to find the cause of the problem of Bus Bar Arcing and the fishbone diagram method is used to find the cause of damage that occurs to the Bus Bar Arcing Windows Windshield Cockpit of Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft. The results of the analysis of the Bus Bar component on the Wind shield found several causes from four main categories, namely, the Man category is known to use tools not according to applicable references / standards caused by not conducting training on mechanics, the second category Method is known to be poor insulation quality caused by not implementing according to management, the third category Machine is known to humidity in the windshield of long-term exposure to temperature humidity resulting in the presence of water vapor caused by the battery in the WHCU not supplying power and unable to heat the windshield optimally, and the Material category is known to break the electrical wire due to life time which causes discontinuity(disconnection) in the wire.
