Abstract

Fuel costs occupy the highest portion of the total flight operating costs. Some records state that fuel costs occupy 40 to 70 percent of the total flight operating costs. Airlines strive to manage fuel requirements as efficiently as possible to produce a minimum value of fuel requirements but still within the flight operational limits required in civil aviation safety regulations. This study uses data collection methods by collecting company documents, company archives, and records related to research. The data was taken from the Flight Operations Unit of PT Lion Air Yogyakarta International Airport which handles Lion Air B737-900 aircraft in January 2021 including the registration of the aircraft used, departure and arrival times, flight number, passenger data, aircraft type, aircraft weight data and data payload. From the data collected, it shows that there is no significant relationship between uplift fuel and minimum fuel requirements on aircraft fuel costs. This is because the elements forming the block fuel are not only trip fuel but also alternate fuel, holding fuel, the size of the value mentioned above is very dependent on weather conditions and the technical condition of the aircraft's airworthiness.
