Abstract

Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) currently have a growing role, including in the military field for monitoring an area. UAV can also be used in jobs that have a high risk, such as looking at the condition of areas affected by radiation. In designing UAV, it is necessary to pay attention to the placement of aircraft components and their configuration, it has an impact on its static stability. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a stability analysis, especially static stability. The analysis method using numerical methods to determine the performance of static stability performance of UAV in the longitudinal and lateral directional dimensions. UAV design geometry data inputted into the XFLR5software in the form of airfoil, wing, vertical tail, horizontal tail and also fuselage. Then in the analysis of aerodynamic parameters in the form of CL, Cm, Cl, and Cn with variations in alpha angle and side slip angle. In the analysis using XFLR5 software, the results obtained are static stability parameters, namely Cmα, Cm0, Clβ, and Cnβ. In conclusion, the PUNA aircraft has not met all the criteria for static stability of the longitudinal dimension (Cmα < 0 and Cm0 > 0) values of Cmα = -0.0576 and values of Cm0 = 0.073. But the PUNA aircraft has met the criteria for static stability of the directional lateral dimensions (Clβ < 0 and Cnβ > 0), with Clβ values = -0.00008 and Cnβ = 0.0012.
