Abstract
A rocket is a flying vehicle used in the aerospace field that is driven by a rocket engine. The importance of rocket technology has made one of the institutions in Indonesia LAPAN hold a competition called Komurindo Kombat. One of the competitions is the EDF rocket vehicle. Therefore the researchers designed the EDF rocket which is expected to follow Komurindo Kombat. The method used is a numerical computation method. Where, the EDF rocket DRO follows the Komurindo Kombat guidebook. The results of the geometry are drawn in 3 dimensions using SolidWork software. Then the results of the 3- dimensional images were analyzed to determine the static margin using RockSim software, while to determine the aerodynamic characteristics using ANSYS software. The results of the EDF rocket design show that the rocket meets the DRO requirements from the Komurindo Kombat manual. The results of the aerodynamic and stability analysis carried out on the results of the EDF rocket design, obtained a static margin value of 1.5 and are in the stable category. For alpha 0 the lift value is 18.5246 N and the drag value is 3.4005 N. And the CM value decreases from the angle of attack -8° to the angle of attack of 8°. In this interval it can be seen that the CM derivative with respect to the angle of attack is negative. In accordance with the longitudinal static stability criteria, then at this interval the rocket is statically stable.
