Abstract
Flight activity at airports is increasing day by day. With the increase in aviation activities, of course, it also increases aircraft exhaust emissions. These emissions can affect air quality in the airport area. In order to know the air quality in an area, an air quality standard is needed. Through the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry Number 14 of 2020, the Government of Indonesia regulates air quality with the Air Pollutant Standard Index (ISPU). Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) as the new gateway for commercial flights in the Special Region of Yogyakarta needs to be considered for air quality by the management. The method used in this study uses a hybrid method with reference to ICAO Doc 9889 about Airport air quality manual. In this method, calculations are carried out based on actual data from all aircraft operating in May 2022. The study was limited by calculating the emissions emitted by the aircraft ranging from touchdowns to retract landing gears. This study aims to determine the amount of Carbon monoxide (CO) and Hydrocarbons (HC) produced from aircraft engines. The amount is further compared with the ISPU value to determine the air quality in YIA. The calculation results show that the air quality in YIA in May 2022 is still in the good category. This study also predicts emission calculations in March 2023. The results of these calculations also show that air quality in YIA in May 2022 is still in the good category.
