Abstract

In the world of aviation, comfort is one of the most important things. Routine maintenance and checks carried out inside the hangar. If there is damage or abnormal conditions, problem solving must be done. Troubleshooting is one of the problems that can be used to solve the problem of heat exchangers in AC systems in Douglas DC-9 aircraft. Common problems that often occur in heat exchanger air conditioning system are leakage, corrosion, and blocking. Leakage usually occurs in heat exchanger lattices due to imperfect seals. Corrosion and blocking usually occur on the heat exchanger tube bundle. Corrosion usually occurs due to oxidation reactions while blocking usually occurs due to the amount of dust or other particles entering the heat exchanger. After finding these problems, troubleshooting is done according to the problem. At first, cleaning is done on all problems that occur. If the heat exchanger is corrosion, we see how corrosion is. If it cannot be cleaned, removal must be made to the heat exchanger. While the heat exchanger experienced leakage, the replacement of the seal was carried out. After that, testing of the heat exchanger was carried out, ensuring that the heat exchanger had no problem.
