Abstract
Vertical gyro is an electrically driven gyro that rotates on the vertical axis. Vertical Gyro supplies references to automatic flight control and aircraft flight instruments about rolling (aileron) axes and pitching (elevators). A gyro flag warning pops up on the attitude direction indicated that there is a problem with the vertical gyro. This is because the rotor on the gyro rotates below 75% of the maximum rotation due to the trouble of rotor bearing and gimbal bearing. Troubleshoot in workshop is carried out in accordance with the component maintenance manual. There are some tests needed in order to know if there is a problem with the components. If failur occurs, the technician must remove, repair, and then reinstall the component until it is finished. The bearing rotor are usually fatigue due to the age of the bearing and must be replaced. Gimbal bearing is also the same because of age, it will only be maintained with lubricant. Repair is carried out in accordance with the component maintenance manual. After repair is carried out, the technician must re-test all of gyro components until they are calibrated. If all procedures have been carried out correctly and the vertical gyro works well in accordance with an accurate designation on the attitude direction indicator, the vertical gyro can be declared serviceable and can be used on the aircraft. Vertical gyro will only be maintained or repaired, if there is trouble
