Abstract

Very high frequency is the main communication equipment used in aircraft. If very high frequency is damage, the communication carried out on the aircraft will also be interrupted. broken that often occurs at very high frequency is the transceiver experiencing "weak". Weak is a condition where the data or audio could not be received maximally or in other words the sound produced by the speaker will be minimal even if the volume has been maximized. The troubleshot that was carried out on the plane was to see the notification on the multi-function control and display unit. Multi-function control and display unit shows the failure that occurs on the aircraft. In this case the transceiver is broken and needs to be replaced. After replacement, the damaged transceiver is sent to the workshop. Here the technician performs troubleshoot by testing based on the procedure listed on manual. If the audio output level is in good condition, multimeter will read between 2 Vrms until 3 Vrms. In this case the multimeter read only 0.5 Vrms, so that it needs to be repaired. In accordance with the component maintenance manual 23-12-74, repair is carried out by readjusting the RX A2 module AT R149 and R180. After readjusting the RX A2 module AT R149 and R180. The re-testing is needed in order to check wheater the adjustment is correct or not. There is no failure found in re-testing process which indicated by 2.5 vrms displayed on multimeter, so that the transceiver could be declared serviceable again.
