Abstract

In the industrial world, product quality is a problem that needs to be considered by companies, this is done for the reason of increasing the profits set. PT. Mandiri Jogja Internasional (BUCINI) is a company engaged in the manufacturing sector that produces various products, one of which is bags. This company still often has problems in the quality section, namely product defects, including peeling/eroding defects, inner defects, longstrap stitching defects, leather wrinkle defects, and sliding adhesive defects. In order to avoid product defects, product quality control is needed. This study was conducted using the six sigma method to determine the cause of process defects. seven tools to explore the problems in the company starting from the skin of the problem to the root of the problem, the tools used are Control Chart, Pareto Diagram, Scatter Diagram, Fishbone, and Capability Process. The results of the analysis on the production of leather bags obtained sigma 3.8 with a DPMO value of 10000. To achieve the company standard of 4.5, there needs to be a more thorough performance improvement, so that there are no more product defects. Of the total defects in the production process, the defect was 1.1%. The most influential defect was an error in the sewing process, namely an inner defect with an average defect rate percentage of 31.16%. Of the 5 defects that occurred, it was stated that they had a positive relationship (positive correlation). For product defects, many are caused by humans, including fatigue factors, employees who are less careful, employees who are less disciplined, in a hurry, and employees who are less skilled. The Cp value is 0.543 (<1.00).
