Abstract
Electrical energy in certain areas such as coastal coasts is still limited. Sea water is a natural resource which can be used as a source of renewable energy. The purpose of this research was to make battery and identity the output power of battery using sea water electrolyte with some variations of salinity which can be used as a source of renewable energy. The electrodes used were aluminum and copper with a cross-sectional area of 56 cm2. The battery electrolyte variation used was seawater without treatment (A0) and seawater by evaporation treatment from 3 kg of sea water until reduced 300 grams (B300), 600 grams (C600) and 900 grams (D900). The battery was made of voltaic cell methods and series-parallel circuits with a total cells of 42 cells. The next step was testing performed battery for 24 hours with data taking for every 3 hours. From the test, the largest voltage data occurred was on the electrolyte D900 variation of 8.1 V. From the testing, the highest current occured at the initial condition at all variations that remain the same for 0,5 mA. The highest power was obtained from the use of water electrolytes sea with D900 evaporation treatment of 4.05 mW. For the power results in electrolyte variations A0, B300 and C600, it was obtained the same power of 4 mW.
