Abstract
This research was intended to recalculate cooling loads on the library of Sekolah Tinggi Teknologi Adisutjipto (STTA) Yogyakarta which was expected to give more optimum performance of the air system. This research was conducted on the downstairs and upstairs. On the downstairs there are two conditioned rooms and on the upstairs there are three conditioned rooms. The calculation of cooling load done by CLTD (Cooling Load Temperature Difference) method based on ASHRAE Handbook Fundamentals using primary data available in every room including the exsternal and the internal loads as well as the sensible heat and the latent heat of air. The final result of the theoretical research it was obtained that the maximum cooling load at peak condition was 134380 Btu/hr (11.198) or equal to ≈ 15 PK. While the installed cooling capacity was 117000 Btu / hr (9.75 ton refrigerant) or equivalent to ≈ 13 PK there was a shortage of cooling load as 17380 Btu/hr (1.448 ton refrigerant). The different calculation was because the factors affecting the cooling load increase were not considered either the exsternal heat or the internal heat that the optimum comfortable temperature was not found
