Abstract

Structure Repair Manual (SRM) is a guidance issued by manufacturers to Maintenance Repair Overhaul (MRO) for repair objectives. All forms of repair attempt to maintain the functions of any certain structure or component. However, SRM does not include any analysis confirming the safety of a repaired structure. Thus, an investigation of the structural strength is deemed necessary. In this study, finite element analysis is carried out on doubler repair structure of lower horizontal stabilizer skin of Boeing 737-900ER using CATIA V5 R21 software. The employed loading conditions represent steady turn of 15o , 30o , and 45o . Then analysis calculates maximum stress values in critical areas which are exploited to determine the margin of safety of the analyzed structure. The results of the analysis using CATIA V5 R21 software reveal that the margin of safety of the SRM repair structure on the horizontal stabilizer is 32.13 for 45o banking condition, while for the modified repair I and 2 are 24.22 and 28.30, respectively
