Abstract
In the process of designing a Unmanned Aerial Vehicle UAV before entering the production stage, various aspects that are very important carried out, namely the analysis of aerodynamic characteristics, stability, structure, flight performance and the dynamics of flying an airplane, furthermore the aircraft's autopilot control system. Where every problem on UAV has different characteristics in each field, but in this research only analyzed the aerodynamic characteristics and stability the planes of UAV CargoX that was designed by Wildan for the shipping mission. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of aerodynamics, to determine the location of the center of gravity point CG, to know how the static stability characteristics of some variations are given and to know how dynamic stability analysis based on the location of the characteristic root value eigenvalue. Determining the location of CG points, Analysis of aerodynamic characteristics and stability on UAV CargoX is carried out using XFLR5 software, setting the CG point with a 30% 35% MAC and static margin with a 5% 10%. Analysis of aerodynamic characteristics was carried out only with the parameters CL vs a, CD vs a dan Cm vs a, then the static stability analysis on the longitudinal dimension was given velocity variation, height variation and elevator deflection variation, static stability on the lateral dimension was given aileron deflection variation and Static stability in the directional dimension is given a variation of rudder deflection. While the analysis of dynamic stability characteristics in the longitudinal dimension and lateral directional dimension is analyzed from the eigenvalue value and its position in the root locos view along with the respone time. Based on the results of CG determination, the desired criteria with the location of the CG point is 31% MAC, the aerodynamic characteristics on planes of UAV CargoX showing the addition angle of attack will result in the addition of the lift coefficient so as to increase the lift, the addition angle of attack also increase drag value, but increases the drag coefficient is still at the minimum drag coefficient. Then for static and dynamic stability analysis, the UAV CargoX has met the criteria of static stability in several variations that have been given and has met the criteria of dynamic stability based on eigenvalue and its position on the root locos view along with the respone time both in the longitudinal and lateral directional motions, but the lateral dimension for spiral mode does not meet the dynamic stability criteria because the eigenvalue is on the right of the imaginary axis
