Abstract
UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) is an aircraft that operates without human pilot onboard. UAV can be use for monitoring and surveillance by adding camera in it that will record and collects data of an object. To responds the condition of roadway and traffic, UAV that can lift vertically and has faster speed is needed to move between traffic and captures photos during mission. Therefore, the writer planning to design UAV with vertical take-off and its aerodynamic characteristics. Analytical methods and numerical methods used with reference from Raymer dan Roskam’s book. Where designs started with determining DR&O, weight, wing span, wing geometry, fuselage, and tail. The results from geometry drawn into 3D with CATIA software. Then the three dimensional images are analyzed to find out the aerodynamics characteristics in UAV usinh ANSYS.. The results of Verrical Take Off UAV designs shows that the aircraft has rectangular wing shape with high wing position, single tailboom, conventional tail, pusher installed engine, and 4 enginesin wings for vertical take off and landing. Technical data results from designs are as follows: 28,08N take-off weight, 1,713m wing span, 1,32m length, aspect ratio of 7, maximum lift coefficient (CLmax ) of 1,7 when angle of attack is 16o .
