Abstract

In the world of aviation, it is important for aircraft operators to know how strong the performance of an aircraft engine is in its operation, especially in conditions of ever-changing flight altitudes. The PT6A-27, which is the Pilatus Porter engine, is the most frequently flown engine at changing flight altitudes. The purpose of this thesis is to determine the effect of flight altitude and determine the performance of the PT6A-27 engine based on the Aircraft Flight Log and determine the most efficient altitude for specific fuel consumption values. To find out, analytical calculations are carried out using several input data parameters that have been obtained from references and using the help of mathcad software and also for graphic results from Ms. Excel in cruising flight conditions by varying the flight altitude conditions between 8000 ft to 12000 ft based on field data in this case Aircraft Flight Log The results of the calculation of the PT6A engine performance - 27 Pilatus PC-6 Porter aircraft based on cruising flight conditions on the Aircraft Flight Log have flight data including IAS which shows a value that does not have a significant change and tends to be at 109-110 knots, then the ITT value tends to increase at each altitude. For the influence of the altitude studied at an altitude of 8000 to 12000ft, it shows that the higher the altitude, the lower the temperature and the value of the fuel / air ratio and specific thrust increase. For the specific fuel consumption value itself, it generally decreases at each altitude. The size of the specific fuel consumption value is influenced by the fuel / air ratio value and the specific thrust value that have been obtained previously. So it can be said that the most efficient flight altitude is at an altitude that has the lowest specific fuel consumption value from other flight altitudes.
