Abstract
Long-distance flights and flying in complex airport conditions make information about airports and flight routes increasingly abundant, from takeoff to landing. On the other hand, pilots are required to always update all information during flights. So far, references to information about flight route updates and airports have been obtained from several manuals carried by pilots in hardcopy form. EFB facilitates pilot needs by storing all the necessary data in hardcopy form into an electronic form that is easily accessible in a device called EFB. This thesis discusses EFB at Garuda Indonesia and how much pilots need Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) using literature methods, interview methods and questionnaires. Electronic flight bag (EFB) is an electronic information system, consisting of equipment and applications, for flight crews that allows them to store, update, display and process EFB functions to support flight operations or tasks so that they become easier and more efficient through electronic data. The software on Garuda Indonesia EFB currently has 2, namely E-Viewer and E-Performance Calculation. The functions and uses of Electronic Flight Bag include: improving safety aspects, reducing manual paper in the cockpit, faster updates, more accurate, increasing On Time Performance (OTP), increasing operational efficiency, longer Engine Maintenance Cycle (increasing engine cycle), more profitable (saving cost). And through questionnaire data it was found that the pilot's need for EFB is very large, namely 92.72% for Need EFB for the pilot and 93.38% for EFB Operating. So EFB is very much needed by pilots to help carry out their duties and this EFB has also proven to be profitable for the company.
