Abstract
At present, the need for electric energy is increasing with the growth of people and electrical equipment. The electrical energy that man needs always depends on fossil energy. An alternative energy that has good potential is the energy of water. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the number of blades on wheel performance. This research is an experimental research study on the performance of waterwheels undershot with of blades total 8, 12 and 16. It was then observed on the speed of rotation, the voltage and the force of the current generated and analyzed more thoroughly to get the power, torque and efficiency of the waterwheel. The charging used 5 watt and 10 watt LED lamps. The results showed that the number of 12 blades was the most optimal in terms of efficiency 4.865 %, rotational power 267 rpm, generator power 0.626 watt and torque 4.298 Nm, compared to the blades with a number of 8 and 16.
