Abstract

Wings Air Airlines uses ATR 72-600 aircraft to be used as short distances transportation or flying in areas that have middle class airports such as Papua. The island of Papua is considered to be an extreme flight route due to the contours of its hil and mountain terrain and extreme weather. In this case it will be very dangerous for safety flight if a single engine occurs. Then we need a flight planning with special techniques. Flight planning is done by finding the aircraft Take Off Weight estimate from data obtained on the Wings Air airline during January. Next is analyze the drift down on the path specified at each interval of 20 NM. Flight planning is done by avoiding the hills along the Jayapura-Wamena and Wamena-Jayapura flight paths. With an aircraft TOW of 22000 kg, where the weight is the biggest weight in observations in one month flight cases on the Jayapura-Wamena flight route with variations in altitude of 18000 feet and 16000 feet. And Wamena-Jayapua flight routes with variations of altitude of 19000 feet and 17000 feet safe if there is a single engine because the flight routes have been adjusted to the relif of the hills. It can be conclude that with the flight plan that has been made, the weight under 22000 kg is declared safe.
