Abstract
The mini Electric Ducted Fan (EDF) engine is a smaller jet engine model using an electric motor with electrical energy as the driving force. EDF engine will be added to the thrust augmented system. By adding the thrust augmented system, an engine cone is needed as a combustion place. Because it is used as a burning place, an engine cone must have a material with high heat resistance, besides the material used must also be lightweight. Based on the descriptio, this final project will determine the type of material and thermal analysis for engine cone mini electric jet engine. In this study, it will simulate the fuel combustion on a mini electric jet engine system. This study uses a numerical method with CATIA V5R20 software for additional modeling of existing models and ANSYS software for thermal analysis on engine cone. The variation used for thermal engine cone analysis is 3 mass flow rates of 3.12 g/s, 1.6 g/s and 0.8 g/s, and uses 2 types of material, aluminum and polylactic acid (PLA) at each mass flow variation. The results of thermal analysis for cone engine mini electric jet engine, show that the variation of mass flow rate results in the spread of heat from different fuel combustion which will have an impact on the engine cone mini electric jet engine. PLA material can withstand the temperature of combustion of fuel with a mass flow rate of fuel 1.6 g/s
