Abstract

The use of UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) or also known as unmanned aircraft is currently widely used for military and civilian purposes. In the process of producing UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) aircraft, there are many methods that can be used, one of which is the 3D printing method, this method is a method used to quickly scale models of parts of a product, part, or assembly. by using three-dimensional CAD (Computer Aided Design). So that in this research aims to determine the effect of the application of the material applied to ruddervator Straight-A UAV aircraft which is manufactured using 3D printing machines and how the process is carried out in the production of Straight-A UAV aircraft. In the application of material carried out in the production process of ruddervator, Straight-A UAV uses two types of material, namely PLA filament (Polylactic Acid) and ABS filament (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene), this aims to find one of the best materials to be used to produce parts Straight-A UAV parts by comparing the two materials using three comparison parameters, namely weight ratio, comparison of surface quality and comparison of production costs. For the results of the weight comparison of PLA filament obtained a value of 13 grams and 23 gram ABS filament, for the comparison of surface quality of PLA filament is more coarse than filament ABS and for the comparison of the production cost of filament PLA IDR 1,500 / gram while IDR 2,000 / gram ABS filament . For the results of the material comparison using three parameters above the PLA filament is superior to the ABS filament. In the UAV aircraft production process Straight-A aircraft parts made with 3D printing machines are rib, boom mounting, tail mounting, aileron, wing mounting, flap, fuselage, "V" stabilizer, "V" stabilizer joint and ruddervator. The phase carried out in the production process of Straight-A UAV aircraft only includes 6 phases, namely material selection, finishing 3D print parts, aircraft parts assembly, electrical system installation, finishing and assembly.
