Abstract

Solar energy is an alternative energy source that can be exploited because its availability is abundant and is a source of natural energy that does not cause environmental pollution. One alternative to the use of solar energy is a solar stove. The solar stove is an alternative tool in the cooking process which is used for household needs, not complicated and relatively cheap to manufacture so that it can ease the burden on household needs, especially cooking. The purpose of this research was to add some additional variations and to test the results of the solar stove design. The research method used the experimental study by designing a prototype device for a parabolic type solar stove with a parabolic size that was already on the market in 74 cm. The data collection technique was conducted by testing the device with determined time and environmental wheatear condition parameter. The solar stove test showed that the average radiation caught by the solar stove reflector without the addition of a flat mirror was 410.17 watts, with the addition of three flat mirrors was 679.177 watts, and with the addition of four flat mirrors was 753,006 watts. The average stove power obtained on a parabolic type solar stove without the addition of a flat mirror was 12,74 watts with an energy efficiency of 3,1%, with the addition of three flat mirrors was 22,27 watts with an energy efficiency of 3,28%, and with the addition of four flat mirrors was 25,95 watts with an energy efficiency of 3,44%. The increase in efficiency in the variation with the addition of three and four flat mirrors occurred due to the increase in the area of the reflector so that the intensity of solar radiation reflected by the reflector was more and the heat hitting the bottom surface of the pan will increase.
