Abstract

A lot of people in Indonesia generally gain pure water from shallow well using water pump. One of the most widely used pump types is shallow well pump with HS specification = 9 meter. HS is the maximum depth from the pump to flow water with maximum discharge. One of the disadvantages of shallow well pump is it cannot raise water from underground and flow it to the surface when the height of the head pressure is more than 9 meters. This research proposed the modification of well water pump pipeline by flowing shallow water from displacement pipeline to suchtion pipeline through feedback pipeline. The purpose of this modification was to increase the pressure head of shallow well water pump. The experiment result showed the proposed system succeeded, the water discharge through displacement pipeline 1 starting from 10 – 100% opening indicated 5,67 liter/minute average, the lowest value was at 10% opening, and the highest value was at 20% opening. Based on the fluid discharge data after the pipeline system modification, the shallow well pump indicated that the pressure head increased 1,2 meter and the average water discharge was 5,67 liter/minute at the pressure pipe.
