Abstract
Current electricity needs will continue to increase along with the improving economic conditions, citizen increase, and increased development. Indonesia, which is one of the countries with the longest coastline in the world, can use this to develop wind power plants. PLTB has the main advantage because it is renewable. This means that the exploitation of this energy source will not reduce wind data sources such as fuel use. The windmills used in this study are U-type savonius with a diameter of 40 cm and a height of 50 cm with a number of blades 3, 4, and 5. Tests carried out on the beach recorded for 30 seconds using an anemometer, multimeter, and tachometer. Then the average value of wind speed, voltage, current, and output power, was taken. From the results of testing the number of blades on a U type savonius windmill, the lowest windmill speed obtained on a windmill with a number of blades 3 with 128,95 rpm and the highest spin on blade number 5 with 150,89 rpm. The lowest output value on blade number 5 is 0,65 watts and the highest output on blade number 4 is 2,07 watts. The lowest efficiency value on the number of blades 5 is 3,20% and the highest efficiency value on the number of blades 4 is 17,81%
