Abstract

On Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft, weather radar is one of the navigation instruments. Weather radar serves to indicate weather conditions, windshear events, and terrain around the aircraft, and is displayed on displays of various color patterns. Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft use a frequency of 9,345 GHz with a range of up to 320 NM. Failure of this system may result in weather maps displayed on display being inaccurate or even blank. How to overcome the failure of the weather radar system starts with conducting a self-test weather radar system. After the weather radar system self test, there was an antenna problem in the weather radar system. According to fault isolation manual how to fix the condition is to replace the antenna drive unit. After the replacement of antenna drive unit, it is necessary to conduct weather radar system self-test again. At the time of the weather radar system self test, navigation display displays weather data then followed by the appearance of the label TEST COMPLETE. This indicates the system and components are back to serviceable and reusable state.
