Abstract
The Integrated Drive Generator (IDG) is an important part of the aircraft which is located in each engine. Integrated Drive Generator (IDG) as a generator of electricity from the engine rotation of the gearbox. In IDG there is a Constant Speed Drive (CSD) which functions to produce constant RPM rotation (24,000 RPM) and there is a generator that functions to change the rotation from CSD to 3-phase voltage, 115 VAC and 400 Hz. IDG is controlled by the Generator Control Unit (GCU) which monitors the performance of the IDG, excites the exciter rotor, and protects. There is also a Generator Drive and Standby Power which functions as a switch. If a malfunction occurs, it will break the disconnection mechanism. So if there is damage to the IDG, the Drive light will turn on. This system has various problems, one of which is that IDG is experiencing Underfrequency. The way to deal with underfrequency in IDG is by doing the GCU Bite Test Procedure. After the test result the result is the "IDG Fault" indicator light is on. Based on the Fault Insulation Manual to solve this problem is to replace the problematic IDG with a new IDG. After the IDG is replaced and operational tests on the IDG, the Drive indicator light on the Drive Generator and Standby Power panels is no longer lit. This shows that the system and components of the Integrated Drive Generator (IDG) can be repaired and returned to normal.
