Abstract

Robot is a mechanical device that can obtain information from the environment through sensors, can be programmed, can carry out several different tasks and work automatically. With the obstacle avoidance wheeled robot, it is hoped that it can help humans to automate transportation, mobile platforms to simplify the production process in the industrial sector and unmanned exploration. Therefore, this study discusses the design of a wheeled robot that can avoid obstacles. Obstacle detection process uses Ultrasonic Sensor HY-SRF05 to guide the robot's navigation in determining the distance to obstacles, for example walls. Meanwhile, the robot's control center uses the Arduino Nano Atmega 328, which is programmed using the C language using the Arduino IDE software. The robot can perform evasive maneuvers if it detects an obstruction less than 15 cm. This robot can be controlled via remote in manual mode and automatic mode. Robot and remote control can function properly, in manual mode as well as in automatic mode. Data transmission from Robot to Smartphone using bluetooth HC-05 is fast enough so that the data obtained is quite accurate with the robot's condition. Robot automatic mode can scan obstacles well and is able to avoid obstacles in front of the robot. Obstacle avoidance robots are most effective when the robot is perpendicular to the obstacle. In manual mode the robot is able to move according to remote control instructions
