Abstract

The rapid development and advancement of technology has resulted in a very high demand for energy and the need for new renewable energy as an alternative energy, One of which is solar-based public street lighting PJUTS. Public street lighting PJU is a lamp used for street lighting at night. While solar power is an alternative energy source that comes from unlimited sunlight. In this study, the implementation of the design of battery and solar charge controller needs in PJU design and battery efficiency analysis by taking PJUTS data using a watt meter will be carried out. The goal is to determine the need for the use of solar charge controller pulse width modulation and battery proven in the form of battery efficiency results from the implementation of the design. The result of the study show that the PJUTS design can operate automatically turn off the lights when the charging process starts and automatically turn on the lights when the charging process starts with an experiment for 5 days. The use of SCC which is Solar Charge Controller Pulse Width Modulation produces the highest battery efficiency of 91%.
