Abstract

Fixed wing type UAVs are claimed to have the advantage of high efficiency. For narrow runway flying needs, a VTOL UAV can be a good choice. In a VTOL system, one of the things that needs to be considered is the settings during transition mode. In setting up transition mode, there is a parameter that needs to be tested, namely the duration of transition. This parameter regulates the length of time the VTOL motor remains on during the transition process. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of the duration of transition on the UAV during the transition from hover to cruise. The method used is the observation method, where in this study observations were made of variations in the duration of transition for 5 seconds, 6 seconds and 7 seconds. From this test, it was found that variations in transition duration did not have much of an effect because even though using a fast transition duration, the aircraft could still reach steady level flight without stalling, but it took a longer time.
