Abstract

This research aims at bending testing, reverse engineering and dimensional comparison (comparison of shapes) of the pandan thorn leaf fiber composite whether it is feasible as a drone frame material and bending testing to find out whether pandan thorn leaf can have a bending stress and strain value that can compete with other types of composites. The research method used in the manufacture of composites is using the hand-layup method and using an epoxy resin type and then comparing it with carbon fiber. The reverse engineering method is redesigned using Autocad. In the comparison of dimensions, re-measurements are carried out according to the results of the redesign in the reverse engineering process. From the results of the analysis, it was found that the stress values of the specimens met the standard values, namely specimen 1 (34.666 MPa), specimen 2 (39.188 MPa) and specimen 3 (44.481 MPa) on pandan thorn fiber specimens with variations in thickness of 5mm and specimen 3 (44.481 MPa) on fiber specimens. pandanus thorn variation 2 mm. The stress value that occurs in the pandanus thorn fiber composite is not proportional to the bending stress value of the carbon fiber. The strain value of pandan thorn is higher than thar the strain value in carbon fiber. In reverse engineering and dimension comparison, the dimension value is almost the same as the real object dimension value, with the highest error percentage 3.56%.
