Abstract

The standby hydraulic system is an important part of the aircraft hydraulic system used as an alternative or backup system in the event of a leak in the hydraulic system A or hydraulic system B. Standby EMDP has a pressure of 3000 psi which is obtained from reservoir system B through the fill line and reservoir balance. Standby EMDP is used to drive standby rudder, leading edge flaps and slats and thrust reversers. This study aims to analyze troubleshooting and possible causes of failure on the Boeing 737-800NG Rudder that is experiencing trouble and repair. In this study using direct observation of the analysis of the troubleshooting process on the Boeing 737-800NG in the hangar of PT. Batam Aviation Engineering. In addition, this study also uses the fault tree analysis method to find the cause of failure in EMDP standby. He results of research on the problem of Leaks in the acoustic filter of this component cause a reduction in the transfer of hydraulic fluid from the reservoir system B to the standby reservoir system then the standby EMDP is pumped to the PCU which then causes failure in the standby EMDP, namely the pressure drop on the standby EMDP is less than 1300 psi . In addition, this study also uses the fault tree analysis method to find the cause of failure in standby EMDP.and standby rudder. Replacement of components causing failure is carried out using AMM Chapter 29-11-21 page 401. Using the fault tree analysis method, related to the problem Standby EMDP got 8 basic events, Reservoir, EDP problem, EMDP problem, EMDP case drain filter module, System pressure module problem, EDP Case drain filter module, EDP supply shutoff valve problem, System heat exchanger problem.
