Abstract

The ability to read and write is an important component to access knowledge so that it can be started by introducing letters and numbers as a basics. It is also taught to blind students but with a special learning model, namely, Braille. Braille is a system with 6 raised dots that can represent the alphabet. This study aims to create a tool to facilitate the learning of Braille as an alternative to Pantule with a more practical use and accompanied by sound so that it is easier in learning, as well as easy in operation with control of the Android application. The display of Braille learning is built from two main systems Arduino nano microcontrollers which translate prefabricated programs and commands from users to signal output, Bluetooth Module hc-05 as a link between Android and Arduino Nano to communicate, the Solenoid Driver to control Solenoid and Solenoid to visualize Braille and also DFPlayer Mini and Speakers for sound. The software system consists of a Arduino Nano program that contains commands to be implemented, and an Android application program built with an MIT App Inventor as a user's control. The results of system testing showed the success rate of the system's work in visualizing Braille was 100%. The system can visualize the letters A through Z and the numbers 0 through 9 according to the prevailing Braille rules. The feasibility test was carried out by trying directly by blind student, the feasibility test results obtained were 86.81% with a very appropriate category for Braille learning media.
