Abstract

Aluminum alloy 7075 (AA7075) is an aluminum alloy with zinc as the main alloying element. It has excellent mechanical properties and exhibits good ductility, high strength, toughness, and good resistance to fatigue. It is more susceptible to embrittlement than many other aluminum alloys due to microsegregation, but has much better corrosion resistance than alloys from the 2000 series. It is one of the most commonly used aluminum alloys for highly stressed structural applications and has been widely used in structural parts aircraft. The remelting method is one method that can be used to obtain a material with the desired physical and mechanical properties by changing the properties of the basic material. Basically, the remelting process is a process of melting and pouring back materials that have previously undergone melting. Remelting is also part of the aluminum life cycle. Microstructure testing on non-remelting specimens has a smaller grain size than the remelting specimen images. The impact test showed that there was a significant difference in value between the non-remelting specimens and the remelting specimens. A low value was obtained in the re-melting of the specimen, the absorbed energy value was 2.5 J. While the non-melting specimen showed an energy value of 22.9 J. The hardness test showed the hardness value of the specimen obtained on re-melting the specimen with a brinell hardness of 59.65 kgf/ mm².
